the weekend in instagram | 12.16 - 12.18

This weekend was a mash-up of fun holiday celebrations and not-so-fun housework. Matt and I hired some guys who actually know what they're doing for round one of house renovations. Pictures to come... After two weeks of paint fumes (don't worry, I spent some nights on the couch), out-of-place furniture, and a snow white layer of dust over everything kitchen-related, we're finally done! So, a bulk of the weekend was devoted to moving said furniture and cleaning said dust. Whew. Glad to have it done.

On Saturday night, we celebrated Christmas with friends at a party hosted by Pat, Lindsay, and Seth. A smorgasbord of appetizers, a gift exchange, and several rounds of Catchphrase? What's not to love? Catherine ended up with a Slushy Magic and light up ice cubes, which really made the sangria quite festive. Oh, word to the wise. Slushy Magic won't slushify wine. 'Tis a damn shame.

On Sunday, Matt and I hosted my parents, grandma, John, and Abbie for brunch before we went to The Fox to see Christmas with The Rat Pack.

I love The Fox this time of year. Staring up at the ceiling still gives me the heebie jeebies, but watching three men impersonate Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. made it better. Also, GG was kicking like crazy during the entire show, so I planted my dad's hand on my belly, and he got to feel his granddaughter for the first time. Day made.

The final song, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," brought a tear to Jude's eye. I saw! And, of course, I called her out on it.

But, really, who am I to say a word? Just the other day, I cried full-fledged tears while watching this video of a cute kitten doing cute things. I was overwhelmed by its sweetness. Or, I'm nuts.
